What is the FPD?
The Faculty Publications Database is a searchable database of the publications of University of Toledo Health Science Campus faculty, designed (1) to assist faculty members in identifying possible partners for collaborative research projects and (2) to assist in the generation of publication lists for reports, grant proposals, etc. Development of this database was joint project of Research and Sponsored Programs and the Raymon H. Mulford Library, with technical assistance provided by the Academic Team of the Information Technology Department. There are plans to expand the database to include publications of all Univeristy faculty.

What types of publications are in the FPD?

The database includes journal articles, book chapters, edited books, authored books, and software. Poster presentations and published abstracts are not included in the FPD.  Paper presentations are included for papers that are published in their entireity in proceedings.

The goal is to include all existing journal articles, authored or edited books, books chapters, and software of UT faculty in this database.  Many of the refereneces have been gathered from MEDLINE, CINAHL, Biological Abstracts, Science Citation Index, and other electronic databases. Other references are from faculty members' curriculum vitae.

How Can I access the FPD?
Access to the FPD is available from the Research and Sponsored Programs' Faculty Expertise and Research Interest page and the Mulford Library's Web site. The faculty publications search page can also be reached independently from any computer with web access at the address facpubs.utoledo.edu.

How do I search the FPD?
You can search by any of the fields listed on the search page. There are three controlled searches that use drop-down menus: author, department, and school.

My name, or the name I am searching for, is not in the list of authors. Why not?
The list of authors is the drop-down box is pulled from the Faculty Affairs Office on the Health Science Campus.  At this time, not all UT faculty members are included in the list.  However, you can search for the author's name by typing it into the "Contributing Authors" text box.  We suggest using only the last name as many articles abbreviate the first and middle names of authors to initials.

What is the best way to determine that my publication information is correct in the FPD?
To make this resource as complete and correct as possible, we need your help. Search for your name using the drop-down author menu and review the resulting list.  Send additions and corrections to Mary Beth McCreery-Stegman, Reference Associate at the Mulford Library, at marybeth.mccreerystegman@utoledo.edu.

Some of my publications are missing. What do I need to do to get them in the FPD?
If some or all of your publications are missing, please send the publications portion of your curriculum vita (in Word format) as an email attachment to Mary Beth McCreery-Stegman at  marybeth.mccreerystegman@utoledo.edu. She will enter those publications not already in the database.

Some of the publications attributed to me are not mine. How can they be corrected?
Contact Mary Beth. Send her the citations that are not yours and the corrections will be made in the database.

When I publish new papers, what is the best way to ensure that they are included in the database?
Send Mary Beth the full citations for new papers as they are published, and she will enter them into the database. In addition, she periodically searches MEDLINE and other health science databases for articles published by UT faculty.

Who can I contact with comments and questions?
Any questions or comments can be addressed to Mary Beth.
